Post – Definition
In dentistry, a Post is a thin metal rod inserted into the root of a tooth after root canal therapy is completed. A post provides support and retention for restorative material and/or a crown restoration that replaces lost tooth structure. The post is permanently cemented into the affected tooth and is often used to hold a dental crown. There are two different types of posts: prefabricated and those that can be cast at the dental laboratory. Its role as the anchor of a dental crown remains the same regardless of its type. If you are experiencing any symptom defined by a term, you should seek the advice of your dental practitioner.
