Orthodontist – Definition
In the health care industry, an Orthodontist is a dentist who specializes in the diagnosis, prevention, interception and treatment of malocclusions, or 'bad bites' of the teeth and the surrounding structures. An Orthodontist restores the teeth to proper alignment and function by the use of several different types of appliances, one of which is commonly referred to as braces. Braces place pressure on your teeth and/or jaw, forcing them into a more aligned form. Orthodontic treatment can occur at any age, although dentists recommend starting the process while the child is still growing, as the teeth and jaw will move into place quicker. If you are experiencing any symptom defined by a term, you should seek the advice of your dental practitioner.
