Mouthguard – Definition
In dentistry, a Mouthguard is a soft-fitted appliance that is removable and protects teeth from injury. Most types of contact sports, such as boxing, require a mouthguard to protect teeth from injury. If made by an dentist, an exact impression of the mouth is taken to make the appliance. Generally, mouth guards cover your upper teeth only, but in some instances, such as if you wear braces or another fixed dental appliance on your lower jaw, your dentist will make a mouth guard for the lower teeth as well.
