Jawbone – Definition
In dentistry, the Jawbone is the hard bone that supports the face and includes alveolar bone, which anchors the teeth. Natural teeth are attached to our jawbones via a root structure. Depending on the location and size of any given tooth, these root structures will vary in size, depth and complexity. As long as we have our natural teeth and the absence of any disease process, our jawbone structures can be expected to remain healthy and intact. Note: The definitions on our web site are for reference purposes only and in no way represent any official dental advice. If you are experiencing any symptom defined by a term, you should seek the advice of your dental practitioner.
