Jacket – Definition
In dentistry, a Jacket is an older term that refers to a crown for a front tooth, usually made of porcelain. A crown covers or caps the entire tooth starting at the gum line to restore it to its normal shape and size. It also strengthens and improves the appearance of a tooth. Crowns are necessary when a tooth is generally broken down and fillings won’t solve the problem. Teeth can also be crowned for aesthetic reasons. If you are experiencing any symptom defined by a term, you should seek the advice of your dental practitioner.
