Impacted Tooth – Definition
In dentistry, an Impacted Tooth is a tooth that fails to emerge fully through the gums. It usually refers to wisdom teeth, but any tooth can be impacted under unusual circumstances. An impacted tooth may push other teeth together or damage the bony structures supporting the adjacent tooth. Often times, impacted teeth must be surgically removed.
